4D movie (or four-dimensional movie) is a new type of film and television product based on 3D stereoscopic movies and simulation of the surrounding environment, but not in the geometric sense of four-dimensional space. 4D Movie theaters usually introduce effects such as vibration, wind blowing, water spray, smoke, bubbles, smells, scenery, and character actions into 3D movies, forming a unique performance form. These live special effects and storylines are closely integrated with the special equipment of the cinema chairs, which creates an environment consistent with the content of the film, allowing the audience to experience the new entertainment effects of the film through the multiple physical senses of sight, smell, hearing, and touch, immersive, thrilling and tense.
4D Movie theater first appeared in the United States, which were widely adopted in the famous Spider-Man, Leap California, and T2. In recent years, with the widespread use of three-dimensional software in the production of three-dimensional films, 4D movies in the country have also rapidly developed. Also, the level of picture effects and the production of live stunts have made great progress. Dozens of 4D movie theaters have appeared in Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Chengdu, Changchun, Jinan, Wuhan, and other places. Most of these theaters are found in various theme parks (Joy Parks), science, and technology venues, and are popular with audiences and visitors.
